Who We Coach
Hanover works in partnership to coach thousands of young people aged 15-24 every year.

Our partners include:

  • Schools (both core and extended hours)
  • FE colleges and universities
  • Youth offending programmes
  • Teenage mother groups
  • Local authority re-engager projects
  • Young apprentice schemes
  • Community groups
  • Our results prove that coaching benefits young people at every level of ability, from the most challenged to the most talented. This broad range of delivery also helpfully avoids the stigmatisation that narrowly targeted schemes can create. This in turn leads to better attendance levels and wider involvement, thereby increasing effectiveness and creating a positive atmosphere that benefits the entire community.

Hanover works with young people who are:

  • Gifted - those with potential to obtain A* grades or go far on their chosen path (Hanover is recommended under the Government’s Gifted & Talented strand)

  • Average – the 80% of young people who are neither particularly talented nor particularly challenged - and as a result often ineligible for programmes such as this which will help them reach their potential

  • Borderline – coaching can make all the difference to getting that vital pass grade in exams or staying the course in an apprenticeship scheme

  • Underachieving – those who are likely to fail exams or about to opt out of education, training or employment

  • At risk – those who are at risk of being permanently excluded from school, are about to leave care, or are currently not in education, employment or training (NEETs)
  • We also sometimes include associated adults in our young people’s programmes, introducing adults who work with young people to performance management coaching. In-depth, related programmes specifically for adults are run by our sister organisation The Hanover Partnership.

    Location

Currently Hanover works mainly within the M25, but specific projects in other areas of the UK are also undertaken.
